I have a 4 y.o. with weight loss, hair loss, and IBS symptoms…on OAT there is dysbiosis, yeast and fungal markers, all 3 oxalate markers up, lots of Krebs cycle and some fatty acid markers elevated. Even a mitochondrial marker is up.

And she has NAC levels above the mean. … I never see this in adults who are lucky to have a very low level, it seems. In adults, is the NAC deficit due to the use by making glutathione? Folate and B12 look okay, B2 is low.

In adults I see a high hydroxybutyric acid and a very low NAC commonly, but in this child, does a highish NAC push the system to show more 2 OHbutyric acid? mycotoxins,

    Suzanne,
The NAC could be high from using NAC, but I am assuming that is not happening here. It could be a problem in converting NAC into the glutathione pathway. Lack of ATP from mitochondrial dysfunction could contribute as well.

There may be a polymorphism either in gamma-glutamylcysteine synthase or Glutathione Synthetase enzymes. Look up the biochemical pathways online.
